Transport Criteria

* Critically ill adult and pediatric patients        

* Trauma patients

* Hemodynamically unstable medical or surgical patients

* Patients with indwelling monitoring devices

* Pulmonary patients requiring mechanical ventilation

* Cardiac patients during and post thrombolytic therapy

* Any patient requiring continued cardiac monitoring, IV infusions or blood products

Transport Team

* One Registered Nurse and One Paramedic

* Nurses Requirements-Current NC State License.  5 Years Critical care/ Emergency Room experience. Required Certifications:ACLS, TNCC, PALS, ITLS, NRP, BLS and one or more of the following:CFRN, CCRN, CEN, CTRN

* Paramedics Requirements-Current NC State Certificate.  5 years EMS/ critical care experience.  Required Certifications: ACLS, PALS, BLS, ITLS, NRP and be a Nationally Registered Paramedic.  

* Safe, experienced drivers certified as Emergency Medical Technicians

Ambulances

* International Chassis configured for two patient capibility

* International chassis configured for one patient capibility

* Chevrolet chassis configured for one patient capibility

Service Area

* 100 mile radius from WFUBMC others distances on a case by case basis

* Will also transfer patients from one referring medical facility to another medical facility.

* Transferring Physician or Registered Nurse may contact AirCare dispatch at 1-800-336-6224 or the Physician's Access Line (PAL) at 1-800-277-7654

Hours of Operation

* 24 hours a day
