BIOLOGICAL SAFETY

Biological safety is a discipline that promotes safe laboratory practices, procedures, and proper use of containment equipment and facilities by laboratory workers to prevent occupational exposures to infectious materials or release of organisms to the environment.  The WFUHS Biosafety Program is managed by Environmental Health & Safety through the efforts of the Biosafety Officer (BSO). The BSO and staff perform laboratory inspections, investigate laboratory accidents, and provide training and technical advice to Principal Investigators and staff on research safety procedures.
