CS OVERVIEW

Wake Forest University Health Sciences believes that proper storage, handling and disposal of chemical materials is an essential component of our Laboratory Safety Program.

The Chemical Hygiene Plan will inform the faculty and staff of the chemical hazards they will encounter in their work and deals with the health hazards presented by chemical materials. This plan will provide essential information to the faculty and staff.  It provides a set of procedures that when properly implemented will reduce faculty and staff exposure to hazardous chemicals in a laboratory setting.  Under the Chemical Hygiene Plan the Chemical Safety Committee reviews and approves the use of  particularly hazardous chemicals

Particularly Hazardous Chemicals

Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations (1910.1450 - Occupational exposure to hazardous chemicals in laboratories.) require that the institutions have procedures for the use of particularly hazardous chemicals.
