Medical Center Chorale

Art-o-Mat - Arts Alive - Galleries Schedule - Medical Center Chorale - Special Events

Please join us as the Medical Center Chorale resumes rehearsals on Tuesday, September 29, from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. in Davis Memorial Chapel. No auditions are required, only rehearsal attendance. We hope to see all of last season’s members, some long-lost friends, and above all, some new faces.

Summer’s almost over, and it is time to start thinking about and SINGING about Christmas and the Winter holidays.

For further information, please contact Linda Easter (leaster@wfubmc.edu or 716-6355).

We include a variety of styles and periods – some sacred, some secular, some popular – with 1-3 concert performances each season.

Medical Center Chorale Director: Ms. Mignon Dobbins

Our chorale director is Ms. Mignon Dobbins, Chair of the Music Department at Forsyth Country Day School (FCDS), where she directs the upper school choirs and musical theater. Mignon’s Concert Choir has completed successful European concert tours, holds standing engagements at Biltmore Estate and Reynolda House Museum of American Art, and won first place in WXII’s “Clash of the Triad Choirs.” Mignon holds a Master of Music in Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

She sang with the Bel Canto Company, Inc for fifteen years and has served as music director for productions at Community Theatre of Greensboro and Kernersville Little Theatre. She was a founding member of Bel Canto's Parkview Elementary Residency Project and a regularly featured recording artist for Kindermusik, International. Mignon also directs the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Choir of Winston-Salem.

According to Mignon, “The rehearsals are great fun, but I particularly enjoy the concerts in the chapel – the audiences always seem so appreciative. Many people are aware of the healing power of music.”  Why do people continue to participate year after year?  Mignon believes it is “mostly because it's fun!  The music is good, the pianist is brilliant, the camaraderie is solid - and we have great parties!”

Medical Center Accompanist: Mr. Norris Norwood

Norris Norwood, a distinguished soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative pianist both locally and abroad, is our wonderful piano accompanist.  Formerly a staff pianist at the North Carolina School of the Arts and assistant director of the Community Music School of the Stevens Center, Norwood is currently the organist at Ardmore Baptist Church.

Solo and chamber music appearances and invitations have taken him across the world, including a trip to London where he played for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.  Locally, Norwood has played with the Winston-Salem and Greensboro Symphonies, the Bel Canto Company of Greensboro and the Carolina Chamber Symphony.
