Some major activities of the Center will be to:

  • Develop, evaluate and implement diet and nutritional interventions designed to prevent chronic diseases and to maintain good health.
  • Develop new diet assessment methods to aid understanding of the etiology of chronic diseases.
  • Develop new food products or to modify existing food items so foods based on sound nutrition concepts are provided to American consumers.
  • Facilitate compliance with diets that prevent chronic diseases.
  • Develop innovative and action?oriented educational approaches aimed at disseminating accurate information on nutrition and chronic disease prevention.

Research on the links between nutrition and chronic disease build upon research projects already under way at the school that relate diet and nutrition to the causes, prevention and treatment of chronic diseases.
