Current Research:
My current research involves investigation of the role of post-translational modifications such as oxidation and phosphorylation on regulating growth factor mediated intracellular signaling following a proteomics approach utilizing high throughput techniques such as mass spectrometry. More specifically, the interest is in investigating the effect of oxidation on phosphorylation of signaling kinases and its impact on downstream molecular signaling. Understanding these oxidative modifications is of critical significance in explaining the signaling perturbations underlying ‘oxidative pathogenesis’ of several clinical conditions such as atherosclerosis and cancer.
