Research Interests:
S100 proteins in Osteoarthritis

Current Research:
S100 proteins constitute one of the largest groups in the EF-hand calcium-binding protein family and are implicated in various cellular functions. Members of this family are known to exhibit cell and tissue specific expression and up regulated in various human pathologies. My research is focused on understanding the function and regulation of S100A4 in chondrocytes and its role in development of osteoarthritis (OA). Recent work has focused on the cell signaling pathways activated by S100A4 which regulate the expression of matrix-metalloproteinase (MMP).
