Attention All Physician Offices
The
three-year WHISC (Women’s Health: Interventions for Smoking Cessation) project
is approaching its end. Free materials
are available to any interested health care providers in Forsyth County to assist in counseling
patients to quit smoking. The ultimate
goal of WHISC is to reduce the high infant mortality rate in Forsyth County. A contributing factor to this mortality rate
is women smoking during childbearing years and second-hand smoke. If interested in obtaining these materials
for your practice, please contact Nancy Simpson, WHISC Project Manager, at
713-7050 or nsimpson@wfubmc.edu.
Last Chance for Workshop
The
WHISC project will offer “Counseling for Change: Smoking Cessation for Women of
Childbearing Age” one last time on Thursday,
March 22, 2002, from 8:30 am to 4:00
pm
at the Sticht Center. This free workshop is funded by the Duke
Endowment Grant, and workshop materials, lunch, and breaks are all
provided. Pre-registration is required
and space is limited. For more
information and/or to register, contact Carol Bledsoe at 713-7003 or cbledsoe@wfubmc.edu.
