WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Lisa M. Wyatt, a highly recognized communications and marketing executive in the Washington, D.C., area, has been selected as the new vice president and chief communications and marketing officer for Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
Wyatt will begin work at Wake Forest Baptist on Nov. 16, and will report directly to John D. McConnell, M.D., chief executive officer of the Medical Center.
Since 1998, Wyatt has been a senior public affairs and marketing executive at MedStar Health, a 25,000-employee health system serving the Baltimore/¬Washington region. She is currently senior vice president for public affairs and marketing at Washington Hospital Center, the largest hospital in the Washington, D.C., region.
At MedStar Health, she is vice president of marketing for the Washington region and serves on the corporate services staff, in addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the public affairs and marketing division of Washington Hospital Center. In her 13 years at Washington Hospital Center and MedStar Health, she and her staff have garnered more than 600 awards for communications and marketing excellence.
“Lisa Wyatt will be an extremely valuable addition to our Wake Forest Baptist executive team,” McConnell said. “She has a wealth of experience in marketing, communications and brand development, public policy, business strategy and reputation management, and broad knowledge of communications tactics, including e-commerce and interactive web, as well as traditional media.”
Wyatt received her bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University and a Masters of Science in Strategic Marketing and Business Planning from Johns Hopkins University. She began her career as a broadcast journalist in the Syracuse and Dallas markets, and later worked in corporate communications, public affairs and marketing for the American Institutes for Research, the American Psychological Association and the American Nurses Association.
