At the Forefront
As leaders in our field, we are actively advancing sports medicine knowledge, from injury prevention techniques to improved therapeutics to human performance research. Our physician scientists work closely with the tissue engineering program at Wake Forest University and are involved in developing techniques to repair damaged cartilage in the knee and preventing arthritis. At the technology forefront, we are the first in North Carolina to use new “motion monitor” technology, an exciting system that allows our therapists to analyze your range of motion on a computer screen – whether it’s swinging a golf club, running or pitching. We employ specialized computer rehabilitation protocols. Our surgeons have pioneered and invented reconstructive techniques and procedures with an emphasis on minimally invasive (small incisions).
Our sports medicine surgeons have served as presidents of the American Society of Sports Medicine, the American Arthroscopy Association and the International Society for Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Sports Medicine, as well as serving as editor of the Arthroscopy Journal. Our faculty members have published over 250 articles, book chapters and books.
