Bethany Brookshire Doctoral Candidate, Department of Physiology and Pharmacology
|
I have been studying in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology since the fall of 2004, and have been with the Jones Lab since spring of 2005. Previously, I have participated in rotations in the laboratories of Dr. Kathy Grant and Dr. Jeff Weiner, where I studied ethanol self-administration in primates and in vitro electrophysiology, respectively. Currently I am concentrating on completing my thesis work, entitled “The Effects of Chronic Methylphenidate Administration on Dopamine and Serotonin Interactions in Mice”, using in vivo microdialysis, behavioral assays, and some in vitro voltammetry. I have a strong interest in the pharmacotherapies for treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders, and hope to continue work in this field beyond that of my graduate research.
