Brief Summary of Research: My research as part of Dr. Allyn Howlett's lab involves the study of cannabinoid compounds that stimulate the CB1 cannabinoid receptor and regulate signal transduction pathways in cultured neuronal and hepatic cells. Additionally, I am interested in how cannabinoid receptors (recently discovered in liver, adipose, muscle and pancreas) and the endocannabinoid system may contribute to body weight, glucose homeostasis, lipid metabolism and liver disease.
