Siqun (Lilly) Zheng, MD My family moved to Winston-Salem from Maryland in June 2000. Both my husband and I joined the faculty at Wake Forest Medical Center and both of us are members of Genomics Center. We have two sons, Julian 16 years old and Jonathan 7 years old.
I am a Research Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and the Director of the Genotyping Laboratory in the Center for Human Genomics. I received my MD degree in 1984 in China and then spent eight years teaching medical students while conducting research in the field of hospital management. In 1993, I came to the US to pursue my post-doctoral training in molecular genetics at Johns Hopkins where, in 1997, I was appointed as a Research Associate in the Center for Genetics of Asthma and Complex Diseases at the University of Maryland. I joined the faculty of the Center for Human Genomics at Wake Forest, first as a Visiting Lecturer (2000), and later as a Research Assistant Professor (2001). In 2003, I was appointed Director of the Genotyping Laboratory in the Center for Human Genomics. During the last four years, I have played a role in overseeing the Genotyping Laboratory in the Center. Meanwhile I have been focusing on my own interest in Prostate Cancer genetic research, and have been very productive in this role. |
