Winston-Salem is home to the Stevens Center for Performing Arts. Originally a silent movie theatre, the Stevens Center is a magnificently restored neoclassical theatre located downtown. It is the primary performance space for the North Carolina School of the Arts and home to NCSA’s popular “Something For Everyone” series. The Winston-Salem Symphony, Piedmont Opera Theatre, and the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival hold regular performances there.
Winston-Salem offers endless opportunities for exploration, education, and recreation. We are centrally located in NC, with easy access to both the gorgeous North Carolina Coast and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Pilot Mountain, a popular hiking and camping destination, is less than an hour away. There are nearly 50 parks in Winston-Salem and surrounding Forsyth County, and a number of greenways.
Real Estate in Winston-Salem is very reasonable, especially compared with other major cities in North Carolina. Most residents simply find that it makes better financial sense to own here rather than rent. With active resident turnover each year, (tough economic times aside,) easy resale is generally achieved. |
