The Section on General Internal Medicine is the largest inpatient service at Wake Forest Baptist. Our new clinical services include the Palliative Care Unit and surgical co-management.
We are committed to transforming the General Internal Medicine hospitalist program from an overflow service to one with greater academic and research orientation.
Physicians in General Internal Medicine Coordinate Comprehensive Care for Each Patient
Our physicians are dedicated to providing continuing care for patients. This includes wellness checks as well as prevention and care of multiple acute (e.g., sinus infections, muscle sprains) and chronic (e.g., high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes, high cholesterol, arthritis) problems. The general internist’s goal is to serve as the primary physician throughout a patient’s lifetime.
To be certified in internal medicine, physicians must complete a three-year residency-training program and pass a rigorous examination given by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Our physicians provide care at the Outpatient Clinic, Downtown Health Plaza, and University of Internal Medicine Association. |
