North Carolina Coalition Initiative :

Building Capacity for Substance Free Communities

Brief Updates as of January 12, 2009

Announcing the Continuation of Funding for Current NCCI-Funded Coalitions for Fiscal Year 2010

The NC Coalition Initiative (NCCI), a program funded by the NC Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services, will continue to build coalition capacity to reduce substance abuse for the upcoming fiscal year (July 2009 – June 2010). The pool of eligible coalitions will be the eight currently funded local substance abuse coalitions.   This second round of grant funding will provide adequate time for these sites to develop coalition capacity and to implement evidence-based, environmental strategies to reduce substance abuse.

NCCI intends to support a new round of coalitions in North Carolina in Fiscal Year 2011 (July 2010 – June 2011), contingent upon continued appropriation of funds by the North Carolina General Assembly.
