Wake Forest University School of Medicine’s Department of Neurosurgery is composed of 7 M.D. faculty members. We have singular expertise in brain tumors, Gamma Knife surgery, , head trauma, epilepsy, pediatric neurosurgery, movement disorders, spine surgery and general neurosurgery.
The following are a few of our neurosurgery units:
Brain Tumor Center - Neurosurgery, radiation, and chemotherapy for malignant or invasive tumors of the brain, spine, and peripheral nerves.
Gamma Knife Radiosurgery Center Non-invasive, single-treatment, stereotactic radio-neurosurgery using both Leksell Gamma Knife and linear accelerator (LINAC) radiosurgery for brain tumors and arteriovenous malformations.
Trauma, Emergency, and Intensive Care - Information on head trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and intensive care invilving neurosurgery.
Pediatric Neurosurgery - Neurosurgery of developmental anomalies presenting in childhood or adulthood: includes tethered spinal cord, spina bifida, myelomeningocele, syringomyelia, Chiari malformation, hydrocephalus, and cranial synostosis (craniosynostosis).
