House Officer Video Education for Medical Center Applications

Systems Overview
10 minutes 25 seconds

Carecast
25 videos - total time 130 minutes

Carecast is the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for Inpatient areas at NCBH. Physicians place orders directly into the computer (CPOE) for almost all areas except the ED. The term "CPOE" means Computerized Physician Order Entry.

You will be able to view almost all of your patient's medical information in this one system. While many of the processes are completed in other systems, you will be able to access the information in Carecast. Carecast is used for lab and other orders in the outpatient clinics but they are not entered by the physician in the clinic.

"Conditional Orders" can be entered into Carecast for patients who will be admitted from the clinic, after surgery, or through the Emergency Department. Your orders are all contained within an individual order that is activated by the nurse receiving the patient into the inpatient CPOE unit.

Centricity
10 videos - total time 41 minutes

Centricity is the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for Outpatient areas at NCBH. You can view appointment schedules, documents, and home medications as well as problem lists. Since Centricity has the list of medications the patient takes at home, it is used during the admission and discharge of patients in the inpatient setting for Medication Reconciliation.

Once you have watched all of the videos, send an e-mail to vvestal@wfubmc.edu and tell Valerie Vestal you have completed the online EMR training.
