Welcome to the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. As part of the Wake Forest NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, we provide care for patients living in western North Carolina as well as Virginia, Tennessee, West Virginia and South Carolina. We have approximately 30 faculty members distributed across three sections within the department. The physician staff is comprised of 12 Board-certified radiation oncologists, all of whom subspecialize in the oncologic management of different tumor types. The Section of Medical Physics is comprised of 13 M.S. and Ph.D. level medical physicists who provide technical expertise in all forms of radiotherapy delivery. We have three Ph.D.-level scientists in the Section of Radiation Biology with close collaborations with 2 additional Ph.D. scientists in the Brain Tumor Center of Excellence. In addition to 6 residents in our well established training program, we currently have a 5 Ph.D./M.D trainees in our NCI funded translational research fellowship.
