Peggy Cromer

Supervisor of Recreation Therapy
Rehabilitation, Aquatics, and Assistive Technology

Peggy began her career at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in 1983.  She has worked with a variety of patients in her career, but the focus has been on the rehabilitation of the acquired brain injured. In 1998, she developed aquatic therapy and community aquatic programs for adults and children.

Peggy is licensed by the state of North Carolina as a LRT; certified at the national level as a CTRS; and certified by the National Swimming Pool Foundation as a CPO. She is an active member of ATRA, NCRTA, BIANC and AEA. She served two consecutive three year terms with the Therapeutic Recreation Certification Board for North Carolina. Also, she is past president of the North Carolina Recreation Therapy Association.

Peggy has been a recipient of several distinguished awards during her career to include the Inspiration Award from the Winston Salem Mayor's Council for Persons with Disabilities in 1999, the Distinguished Member Award from the North Carolina Recreation Therapy Association in 1995, Distinguished Individual Award from the North Carolina Recreation and Parks - Therapeutic Recreation Division in 1991 and the Distinguished Alumnus Award from East Carolina University Leisure Studies Alumni Association in 2002.

Peggy enjoys spending time with her family, cats, reading and is a collector of Pez Candy dispensers.
