Pam Wilson

Assistant Director/Administrative
A native of Yadkinville, North Carolina, Pam has over 20 years of experience in the field of RT, all at WFUBMC. She currently manages a staff of five Child Life Specialists and eleven Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists with additional support staff of Recreation Therapy Assistants and Aides. Pam also serves as the liaison between the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System and the Medical Center in overseeing the Hospital School Program.
Pam is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with B.A. and M.S. degrees in Recreation Administration (Therapeutic Recreation Emphasis). She is certified at the state (TRS) and the national level (CTRS). She is affiliated with NCRTA, ATRA, the American College of Health Career Executives, and the Child Life Council.
Pam has been involved with numerous projects during her distinguished career to include; Past President of the North Carolina Recreation Therapy Board, Past Chair of the North Carolina Recreation and Park Society Therapeutic Recreation Division; and Treasurer for the American Therapeutic Recreation Association. Pam served as President of ATRA for the 1998/99 year and during 2000-2001 as Chair of the American Therapeutic Recreation Foundation. She is currently serving as Chair of the North Carolina Therapeutic Recreation Certification Board and as Treasurer of the Southeast Therapeutic Recreation Symposium.
Pam has served on several practitioner advisory boards to include the UNC-Chapel Hill Curriculum in Leisure Studies/Recreation Administration, UNC-Greensboro Dept. Of Leisure Studies, University of Findlay Recreation Therapy Program and the Northwest Area Education Center. She is a graduate of the Therapeutic Recreation Management School and has an appointment as Adjunct Member of the Graduate Faculty of UNC-Greensboro.
Pam has been a recipient of several distinguished awards to include the ATRA Presidential Award, ATRA Member of the Year Award, ATRA Advocacy Award, Ann James Award of Excellence from the Southeast Symposium, North Carolina Recreation Therapy Association Distinguished Member Award, Distinguished Alumni Award from Curriculum in Leisure Studies/Recreation Administration-UNC/Chapel Hill, and the Distinguished Individual Service Award from the Therapeutic Recreation Division of the North Carolina Recreation and Park Society.
Pam is well known as a die in the wool blue Carolina Tarheel fan. It is a sure bet that you will see her rooting on the Tarheels during football and basketball season. In addition, she also enjoys tennis, golf, and ballet.
