Laboratory Facilities & Services

The 11-story Hanes Building houses many of the basic science academic departments, including Pathology's Section on Tumor Biology.

Dr. Mark Willingham is the director of the Cellular Imaging Core (formerly called MICROMED), which provides equipment and technical support for both confocal and electron microscopy for research and diagnostic purposes throughout the institution. The facility is considered a core laboratory under the Comprehensive Cancer Center grant, providing additional support for microscopy to investigators affiliated with the Cancer Center.

Also considered a core laboratory and with support from the Cancer Center, the Cell and Virus Vector Core Lab, directed by Dr. Purnima Dubey, is available for collaborative research to investigators in other departments.
