Research Program


The Research Program of the Women’s Health Center of Excellence for Research, Leadership, Education (WHCOE), has several goals:  To (1) increase the visibility of women’s health research, (2) expand research in women’s health within the institution, (3) expand venues for keeping researchers, clinicians, and health professionals abreast of cutting edge research, and (4) promote cross-campus and interdisciplinary collaboration in women’s health research.

Seminar Series, Workshops & Women's Health Research Day


Research Seminar Series 
The Seminar Series serves to facilitate interaction and collaboration between investigators in women’s health by providing a forum for sharing the findings of recent research in a broad range of disciplines.  Each seminar will be held from noon – 1:00 in the Sticht Center’s Hubbard Learning Center (main auditorium).  Lunch is provided.

Research Strategies Workshops:

Workshops are intended for faculty at no cost, but registration is required.  Email whcoe@wfubmc.edu to register.  All workshops will take place in the Comprehensive Cancer Center Conference Rooms 2 A&B.

Graylyn Conference on Women's Cognitive Health

Our Graylyn Conference on Women's Cognitive Health discusses critical issues in women's cognitive health and is held every two years at the serene Graylyn International Conference Center, here in Winston Salem. Scientific Review of Grants

Research Awards

Faculty Research Awards in Women’s Health

The WHCoE Faculty Research Awards in Women’s Health are designed to reward and encourage the continued pursuit of excellence in women’s health research at Wake Forest University Health Sciences (WFUHS).

 

Award Criteria

Two awards will be given to eligible faculty applicants.

1.  New Investigator award will be presented to a faculty member who is early in his or her career and is conducting women’s health research in basic or clinical science at WFUHS for at least the past 3 years.  “New Investigator” is defined as a faculty member at the assistant professor level, regardless of time in rank.

2.  Mid-Career Investigator award will be presented to a faculty member who is independently conducting women’s health research in basic or clinical science at WFUHS for at least the past 3 years.  “Mid-career Investigator” is defined as faculty at the associate professor level, regardless of time in rank.  
Awards will be given out again in September 2010.


Medical Student Research Award – Each year the Women's Health Center of Excellence for Research, Leadership, Education (WHCoE) presents an award to a Wake Forest University School of Medicine student doing research related to women's health. The poster competition is held in the fall. Contact Shannon Golden for details.
