The Josiah Macy Foundation issued a new report, "Revisiting the Medical School Educational Mission at a Time of Great Expansion" The document was the result of an October 2008 conference, chaired by AAMC President Emeritus Jordan Cohen. The report cites the current medical school expansion as an "unparalleled opportunity" to examine existing medical school curricula and explore innovative ways to improve the education of the next generation of physicians. AAMC issues a statement on the report noting that many of the reforms suggested in the report are already well under way, and the nation's medical schools are committed to continuous improvement and change. http://www.macyfoundation.org/ http://www.aamc.org/newsroom/pressrel/2009/090129.htm

The AAMC has released a "Compact Between Biomedical Graduate Students and their Research Advisors," a document intended to initiate discussions at the local and national levels about the pre-doctoral student-research advisor relationship and the commitments necessary to achieve an optimal educational experience. http://www.aamc.org/gradcompact
