Oral health report recommends skills for medical, dental students: Shared clinical activities between medicine and dentistry affect the recognition, diagnosis, treatment, and referral of patients who have conditions and disorders that involve the mouth, teeth, or gums. With that understanding, the AAMC and the American Dental Education Association have jointly prepared "Contemporary Issues in Medicine: Oral Health Education for Medical and Dental Students," the ninth report in a series produced for the ongoing AAMC Medical School Objectives Project. The report summarizes recommendations by medical and dental educators on the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes common between the two disciplines in order to prepare graduates of both to address--within their respective clinical encounters--the relationship of oral-systemic interactions on overall patient health.  Go to http://www.aamc.org/meded/msop.

The AAMC has released a new publication, "Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems: Serving the Nation Through Education, Research and Patient Care 2008." The report provides an overview of the characteristics that uniquely distinguish AAMC member-teaching hospitals from other teaching and nonteaching hospitals. CCL’s new publication, Leadership Wisdom: Discovering the Lessons of Experience: As a leader confronted with a fast-paced global economy that emphasizes innovation and productivity, you often find yourself pulled between making decisions quickly and making them well. And business knowledge alone, no matter how sophisticated, is not enough to guarantee success. You must reach deeper and draw on the wisdom of experience in order to find the right course.  Wisdom, however, takes time to develop, and time is in short supply. What do you do? CCL’s newest guidebook --Leadership Wisdom -- can help with this challenge.  The processes described in this guidebook, inquiry and reflection, will accelerate the learning curve to enable you to apply wisdom to today’s challenges rather than yesterday’s missed opportunities. With it, you can develop your capacity to make wise choices.
